How long does a custom software project take?
Most projects ship a working v1 in 6 to 12 weeks. A focused internal tool can be live in 3 to 4 weeks. A multi-tenant SaaS platform with billing, authentication, and a customer-facing dashboard typically takes 3 to 4 months to a public launch.
How much does custom software development cost in New Zealand?
Pricing depends entirely on scope. Most of our engagements range from low-five-figures for a focused MVP to mid-six-figures for a full multi-tenant SaaS platform. Rather than quoting from a brochure, we run a short paid discovery phase and then issue a fixed-scope quote, so you never sign a blank cheque and we never under-spec the build.
Because we lean heavily on AI-accelerated engineering and the Frappe low-code framework where it fits, we typically deliver at around half the cost a traditional NZ dev shop would quote for the same scope, sometimes as low as a quarter.
Who owns the source code and intellectual property?
You do. Source code, infrastructure access, and intellectual property are yours from day one. We deliver to your GitHub organisation and your cloud accounts, not ours. If we part ways, you walk away with everything needed to keep operating or hand the project to another team.
Can you work with our existing team and existing systems?
Yes. A significant share of our work involves plugging into existing stacks: building APIs against legacy databases, integrating Stripe or Xero, extending an ERPNext deployment, or adding an AI layer on top of an existing application. We do not insist on greenfield projects.
What technologies do you use?
Modern, well-supported stacks. React, Next.js, and Astro on the frontend. Python (FastAPI, Frappe), Node.js, and Cloudflare Workers on the backend. Postgres and MariaDB for data. AWS and Cloudflare for hosting. We pick the stack to fit the problem rather than forcing every project into the same shape.
Do you work with clients outside New Zealand?
Yes. We are headquartered in Auckland but a meaningful share of our clients are in Australia, the UK, the US, and Sri Lanka. We work in writing and on video, so timezone overlap matters less than alignment on what we are building.
